Standing by the door of a crowded N train, making my way home yesterday, my attention was suddenly drawn up into the corner of the car. I’d snapped a few pictures (I’m getting used to people giving me strange looks as I photograph things they consider odd) before I realized what was different. The panels along the upper part of the car that are usually devoted to the clutter of advertisements were all blank and clean. The glowing white panels surrounded by glistening stainless steel had given the train a modern and sophisticated look. A shame they can’t be like that all the time.
