Lewis Drug Store

2010 May 20

Last night I had the special treat of dining at Locanda Vini e Olii in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. We were hosted by one of the gracious owners, Catherine de Zagon Louy, and the food was truly phenomenal. But equally impressive is the location. The restaurant occupies an old drug store that has been meticulously restored. Even the sign outside still reads “Lewis Drug Store.” (Catherine told us how she’d had the sign lovingly recreated. I found some pictures of that process here.) And the kitchen is in the old pharmacy, visible here from the dining room.
