Sunset on Pier 62
Piers 62 and 63 are recent additions to Hudson River Park, a park that meanders along the various old piers on the Chelsea river front. Filled with recreational features, including a skate park just barely visible on the left side of this picture, the park is sure to be a center of activity this summer. But on this weekday evening, all is quiet.
This photo inspired a bit of historic research, as well. In the early part of the 20th century, the Chelsea Piers were mostly luxury liner terminals. The ill-fated maiden voyage of the Titanic was to have ended near here, at pier 59.
