Times Square Protest

2010 June 2

Now that we’re all caught up on images from the weekend, here’s something a bit more current. I stumbled on this group of pro-Palestinian protestors yesterday at the north end of Times Square, near the TKTS booth. I’ll leave Middle East politics for other bloggers to discuss, but I find the scene they created fascinating. On one hand, Times Square is full of tourists, so what better place to get your message heard? On the other hand, the visual and auditory noise here is already at the limit of what most people can absorb, so your protest gets swallowed by the chaos. Even the cop charged with keeping the peace (there were many more) seems bored.
