I spent this weekend with friends on the New Jersey shore, where they have a beautiful vacation home in the town of Ocean Grove. Founded by the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association as a religious retreat, the town remains heavily Methodist. At its start, the community consisted of only a church and a collection of tents attached to small sheds, which contain the kitchen and bathroom. In the winter, the tents are stored inside the sheds. Many of these tent structures remain, especially in the area around the church.
