This 12 story apartment building on the corner of 58th Street and 7th Avenue, just a block from Central Park, has some of the most intricate terra-cotta detail I’ve ever seen. When it was built in 1908, New York’s upper class was still a bit unsure about apartment living. To calm their fears, the units in this building were built to be the communal equivalent of mansions, made up of 14 rooms each. It’s since been subdivided.
