Going Under

2010 July 28

Another image from Grand Central. This ramp leads down to the lower level tracks and Dining Concourse. The gallery at the bottom, where this ramp meets its twin on the other side of the building, has a unique acoustic quality. One person whispering into the corner of an arch can be heard by another standing at the diagonal arch. There’s no sign marking this, but judging from the crowd of tourists whispering enthusiastically into the corners, it’s not much of a secret either.

If you look on the right of this page, where all the blog’s navigation is, you’ll see a new collection of random posts. Try it out – it’s a fun way to go through past images you may’ve missed.
