Grand Central Station, or more properly, Grand Central Terminal, has to be one of the most awe inspiring structures in the New York City. Just to walk inside is to walk into history. Completed in 1913 and beautifully restored in the 1990’s, it has survived repeated plans for demolition and was ultimately saved by the Supreme Court. It has more tracks than any other railroad station in the world – 67 on two levels. And it’s still growing. The Long Island Rail Road is adding seven more tracks, and a new station, beneath the existing levels.
