The Garage District
Walk west of 11th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan and you’ll find blocks of garages like this one densely packed together. Mostly devoted to keeping the city’s fleet of taxi’s and limousine’s in good order, they’ll also service anything else with an engine and wheels. They are usually grimy and haphazardly organized, and there are usually lawn chairs outside with old timers having a smoke or shooting the breeze. The setting is ripe for a sitcom. Taxi spinoff anyone?
