Coney Island Terminal

2010 August 9

This perfect weekend was so filled with new experiences, I could fill the blog with images for a month with all the great pictures I took. First, I want to show you more of Coney Island, starting with its gorgeous train station. Newly reconstructed in 2004, its a large facility that serves as the southern terminus for 4 subway lines: the D,F, N and Q. Actually, its the southern most station in the system, and the largest above ground terminal in the world. The intricate arched steel roof shades 8 tracks and 4 platforms, and is covered in solar panels – which are visible in this picture.

Best of all, you can buy cotton candy for your kids as you step off the train. Why not start a day on the beach with a sugar high!
