Back in July, I posted an image from the garage below what used to be the Biltmore Hotel. Since I was in the neighborhood, I went inside the reconstructed building, at 335 Madison Avenue, to see if I could find the clock that had been saved from the old hotel lobby. I walked in searching for a giant grand clock on display in a respectful central location. I found instead a small but intricate clock barely visible on a shelf above the security desk. This dramatic atrium was my conciliation prize. The original Biltmore consisted of two identical towers, which, apparently, were joined into a box.
